Mahesh Desai
• Hand-on Training: 105 minutes
Objectives and Course Description: PCNL is commonly used for treatment of renal stones. Indications and safety of PCNL based on the
increasing expertise of urologic surgeons. Since more centres and urologists are interested in minimal
invasive surgery, the number of PCNL cases is increasing. In this context PCNL training programmes have
become more important than before and playing an important role in learning PCNL.
The workshop provides an interactive hands-on training of different steps and techniques of PCNL. The
attendees will be trained in achieving successful and safe access, dilatation, stone fragmentation, stone
extraction and how to avoid the complications.Hands-on training sessions will be carried out under the guidance of experienced Urologists and local
tutors who will actively guide trainees through the different training steps. Hands-on training will be
carried out using 4 training modules provided by Boston Scientific Industrial Company which allows
getting an access under fluoroscopic guidance.

ESU/ESUT/EULIS Hands-on training course (2.5 hours)

Hands-on training Ureterorenoscopy

Course Director: Bhaskar Somani
Course Coordinator: Ehab Rifat Tawfiek – Omar Elgebaly
Aims and Objectives: The European Section of Uro-Technology (ESUT) and the EAU Section of Urolithiasis (EULIS) offer an
intensive hands-on training course with different models focusing on the endoscopic management
different upper tract endoluminal diseases (i.a. Urolithiasis).
The delegates will be taken through a sequential program of Ureterorenoscopy using normal endoscopic
instruments in different models. The Adjustment of light and camera settings, safety during using of
endoscope and flexible uretero-renoscope will be demonstrated. Handling of the instruments during
Inspection bladder-urethra-pelvis renalis including orientation, identification of anatomical structures
will be showed. The use of various access sheet, guide-wires, baskets and intracorporeal lithotripters will
be demonstrated. Tips and tricks as well as problem management will be given in a one-to-one training
fashion.
The faculty consists of experienced surgeons in the field of Ureterorenoscopy. A theoretical basic presentation
demonstrating the different steps and tasks of the procedures will be given before the practical
course. Afterwards the delegates will be instructed according to their level of experience in small teams
at the models. Finally, all remaining questions can be answered and discussed with all tutors including
the demonstration of tips and tricks
Course Format: Introduction by course coordinator (15 minutes)
Hands-on-training at different models (120 minutes)
Questions and answers, tips and tricks (15 minutes)

Laser Prostatectomy course (2.5 hours)
Course Director: Enmar Habib – Lütfi Tunç
Course Coordinator: Waleed Dawood
Instructors: Lutfi Tunc, (TR) – Enmar Habeb (EG) – Ahmed Elshal (EG) – Hazem Mansy (Can) – Waleed Dawood (EG)
Course Format: Welcome speech: (5 minutes)
. Enucleation from open to endoscopic approach (10 minutes)
. Is HOLEP gold standard technique today? (10 minutes)
. Operation room setup: Essential equipments for laser enucleation (10 minutes)
. Tips and tricks of HOLEP (10 minutes)
. Hands-on training (105 minutes)
Objectives and course description: New technologies have emerged for surgical treatment of BPH aiming for more safety and less complications
compared to TURP. HOLEP is currently commonly used technique for surgical treatment of BPH that
allows enucleation of the prostate mimicking the traditional open approach but without its significant
morbidity to the patients and more safety than TURP. Also HOLEP is of particular importance in certain
situation such as patients with bleeding tendency or those who receive anticoagulant therapy. However,
HOLEP needs special training and since more centres and urologists are interested in HOLEP, training
programmes have become more important than before and playing an important role in learning HOLEP.The workshop provides an interactive hands-on training of different steps and techniques of HOLEP. The
attendees will be trained in achieving successful and safe enucleation of the prostate and how to avoid
the complications.
Hands-on training sessions will be carried out under the guidance of experienced Urologists and local
tutors who will actively guide trainees through the different training steps. Hands-on training will be
carried out using 5 training modules provided by Storz andLumenis Industrial Companies.

without any risk of radiation . It is a commonly used first step diagnostic imaging modality as it is rapid,
effective, portable and relatively inexpensive. Ultrasonography has been currently an important part of
urologists armamentarium for diagnostic and image guided therapy purposes. Urologists are performing
in the modern era more bladder, renal and scrotal ultrasound than any other specialist
This basic course is designed to provide urologists basic knowledge and basic skills necessary for performing
diagnostic urologic ultrasound of abdomen. The course is including an interactive hands on training
part under the supervision of the experienced international urologic and radiologic experts.
